Stand for Ohio’s Energy Future

Stand against local ordinances and resolutions that seek to ban Shale development, drive away local jobs and hurt Ohio’s economy.

Thanks to the Utica Shale, Ohio has a bright energy future.

Producing natural gas from the Utica Shale formation can bring big benefits for Ohio, helping working families, reducing the cost of doing business and growing the economy. I stand against local ordinances and resolutions that seek to ban Shale development and in turn drive away local jobs and hurt Ohio’s economy.

By supporting Ohio shale gas production I am sending the message that Ohio is open for business because:

  • It will create jobs. Ohio’s energy industry supports 225,100 jobs. But that’s not all – the average salary across all Ohio industries is $45,486, while the average salary of non-gas station oil and natural gas industry employees is $75,792 annually.

  • It’s good for communities that have been struggling economically for decades. This energy development will help them recover from their long recession.

  • It will help the entire state. As we’ve seen in states like Pennsylvania and North Dakota, energy production grows the economy of the entire state.

  • It supplies the natural gas we need to become less dependent on foreign energy imports.

  • It’s safe. Hydraulic fracturing has been safely used in Ohio for 60 years and is being safely used across Ohio and the nation to produce the natural gas that’s creating jobs and fueling our economy.

  • It increases revenue for local governments and the state government.

Shale gas production is important for Ohio’s future. I oppose any local bans on hydraulic fracturing or shale development, because they will hurt our families, our state’s economy, and America’s energy security.
