Natural Gas

Natural gas is a clean-burning, domestic energy source that provides power and heat to more than 60 million U.S. homes. It is reliable, affordable and abundant. In fact, experts now estimate we have a 100-year supply in North America. That’s a lot of energy to fuel the way we live.

The natural gas industry fuels the American economy, supporting nearly 3 million jobs and adding more than $385 billion to the national economy. It also delivers enough fuel to heat and power more than 60 million U.S. homes—and we have more than a 100-year supply of this reliable, clean-burning energy source right here in America.

Hydraulic fracturing is essential to unlocking this vast energy resource. Already, this technology has allowed us to expand America’s energy reserves by more than 7 billion barrels of oil and 600 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. In spite of this, some lawmakers are seeking ways to limit the use hydraulic fracturing.

Natural gas is critical to our country’s economic and energy security, and our elected officials and regulators need to know that hydraulic fracturing is proven to be a safe and effective technology. This is why we’ve used it for more than 60 years, in more than a million wells. And we’re ready to use it for many more to deliver reliable supplies of clean natural gas.
